TRUE WORSHIP

Throughout God’s Word we see countless Scriptures on worship and we know there is a part of our spirit that longs to just worship God. From Deuteronomy 26.10, 1 Chronicles 16.29, Psalms 95.6-9, Matthew 4.10, John 4.24 and Revelation 22.9, the Word of God instructs us on TRUE WORSHIP.

Worship of God is more about who we are every day than it is about some act on our part. We may offend God in our everyday living, then enter a sanctuary of worship with dirty hands and vile lips thinking we can enter into His holy presence through music or physical gestures and say we are worshipping – NOT SO!

Satan was the worship leader in heaven around God’s throne, but was cast down when he tried to exalt himself. Satan has made himself front and center through music in our churches and what some call, “praise and worship.”  Rest assured, God loves our true praise and true worship, but today many have made an idol of what is called worship. God spoke clearly to me that many are worshipping worship and He is not pleased, nor does He receive it as true worship.

In these last days, let us live a life of worship before our Holy Father that will be like a great magnet, drawing people to Him. We may say we love God, but how many times throughout a day are our hearts far from Him. I include myself, of course, because I, too, have allowed my thoughts to take me down a path that leads me to distractions and stresses that disqualify me as a true worshipper.

Oh God, help my life to speak so highly of You that people will see You, feel You, and be drawn to You. It is when we pray this that we can worship with “Amazing Grace” or “Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus” or one of the more recent songs chosen and labeled as “praise and worship” music. It isn’t the song selection as much as it is the condition of the heart.

When our words, thoughts, and deeds are acceptable in God’s sight, then we can truly worship - like David, who learned what true worship means. (Psalm 19.14

Bless you and keep looking up.
